中文摘要：我因缘巧合，以一位专科电机工程毕业生，役毕之后考取基层公务人员，自「工职」转换成「公职」，为能增进工作职能，从此进入政法领域，持续在职进修迄今。在修完硕专班学程之际，亟思将这段生涯转换的学习历程作个盘整与反思，本研究爰以「一位非法律背景地方公务员在法学知识成长历程」为主题，进行自我叙事之研究。目的在探究：
一、理工科相关背景者报考公务人员的生涯转换历程。
二、基层公务员在法学知识学习后，对职场上的帮助。
三、根据研究结果提出具体建议，作为相关教育单位、在校学生及进一步研究之参考。
研究方法主要系以深度访谈来收集重要文本资料，同时采以叙事分析法，并辅以文献分析及文件分析，佐以相关史料、公文及照片等，以求研究方法及资料搜集上之三角检证。
本研究从初任公职的个案到改学法律的个案故事，依序自我叙说：「生涯转换之契机及压力」、「初任公职遇到的困境」、「就读高雄市立空中大学法政系」、「再念一次大学财法系」及「更上一层楼进入政治法律硕专班」的学习历程。再进一步分析讨论，我以非法律背景报考地方公务员之考试动机，其次担任公务员后，对于为民服务之工作价值观与如何舍取工作价值之冲突，还有公务员的职场历练对于个人未来学习法律之影响，最后则思索在学习法律后，对公务员工作上之帮助。
本研究据此省思了「生涯转换」对于个人的意义，转换后的职场辛酸以及习法之人不得有投机心态等。并胪列出了对非法律人、对于在职生、对相关教育单位以及后续研究的建议，以供与个人背景相似者生涯转换的参考。
英文摘要：The author, who graduated from a college electronically engineering department, has entered the civil service by coincidence .Since the civil service is quite a different area from what the author have learned in college, the author had to study politics and law to improve working skill. Finally the author became a graduate student in legal area. This study is to present "a self-narrative of legal knowledge gaining process of a local civil servant without legal professional training", and it includes the subjects:
1. The career transition from a engineering graduate to a civil servant.
2. How civil servants benefit from legal knowledge enhancement
3. In terms of the research results, the author provides practical implementations and references for researchers associated with education and students who will do further research.
This study mainly adapts narrative analysis and uses some document analysis as supplementary. Also the author collected data from several interviews and verified by related documents.
This research present the case study from being a civil servant to studying in law, which includes:" the opportunity and pressure of career transition", "the difficulty of being a civil service freshman", "studying in Department of Law and Political Science of Kaohsiung Open University ","Studying in Department of Financial and Economic Law once again" and " enrolling in graduate school of Government and Law". Furthermore, this study analyzes the subjects such as "the motive of a non-legal profession to apply for civil service", "the value and confliction of local civil servant", "the adaptation and difficulty to be a the law profession" and "the effect of civil service experience to career transition "
In this study, the author provides the suggestions for the civil servant who have similar background of career transition and provides the references for the students and researchers who study in this area.
